What Should You Do If A Compression Spring Becomes Deformed?

After a period of use, compression springs may develop some errors due to deformation. What should you do then? Don't worry, here's how to correct compression springs:

Actually, for helical compression springs, if the spring's free height, perpendicularity, pitch, and outer diameter do not meet the specified deviation values after end face grinding, correction machining is often required.

Correction operations are currently mostly done manually or semi-manually. Commonly used tools include: for springs with a wire diameter of 4 mm or more, we usually use hand-operated presses, pitch splitters, punch presses, etc.; for springs with a wire diameter of less than 4 mm, we often use tools with wedge-shaped cutting edges, pliers, hammers, etc. Correction machining uses these tools to induce localized plastic deformation in the spring to achieve the dimensions required by the drawing.
